USER MANUAL
Proseniq Cue Control
Cue Control is built around a single show cue list. Audio, video, images, fades, Script Mode and external control functions are kept in one operating environment so the operator can follow the show in sequence.
The basic workflow
- Create or open a project and build the cue list in show order.
- Select a cue to view and edit its settings.
- Use GO to execute the selected cue. STOP stops current show playback; PAUSE temporarily pauses playback where applicable.
- Use Previous / Next or the cue list itself to move to the cue you want to prepare or run.
What can be placed in the cue list
- Audio cues for music, ambience, voice-over and effects.
- Video and still-image cues for the separate video output.
- Fade / Stop cues to end or fade running media.
- Script-linked cues, plus MIDI, OSC and Art-Net remote triggers in supported editions.
The exact functions available depend on the Cue Control edition. The full feature comparison is available on the main product page.
USER MANUAL
User Interface
The Show view is divided into transport controls, the cue list and the settings for the currently selected cue. The interface is designed so the list remains the main reference during a show.
Main areas
- The top menu provides project, window, cue, Webremote, settings, licence and help functions.
- The large STOP and GO controls remain immediately accessible.
- The cue list shows cue number, cue type, cue name, media/action, duration or fade time, volume and end action.
- The Selected Cue Settings panel changes according to the selected cue type.
Cue-list operation
- Use Up / Down to reorder cues.
- Use the cue controls to add audio, video and Fade / Stop cues, or drag supported media files into the playlist area.
- Previous / Next changes the selected cue; the playback controls provide quick access to play, pause and seeking.
- Cue Control also provides cue-list sorting and renumbering tools for maintaining larger shows.
Show and Script views
- Show is the normal cue-list operating view.
- Script opens Script Mode, where cues can be placed directly inside a production script and fired from the text.
USER MANUAL
Audio Cues
Audio cues are the main playback element for music, ambience, voice-over and sound effects. Each audio cue has its own playback settings and can be assigned to an available audio player.
Create an audio cue
- Add an Audio cue or drag a supported audio file into the cue list.
- Give the cue a clear cue number and name so it remains easy to identify during the show.
- Select the cue to edit its media file, audio player, volume and end action.
Audio players
- Cue Control PRO and DEMO provide up to four independent audio players, allowing several sounds to run at the same time.
- Cue Control LE provides one audio player.
- Use separate players when, for example, ambience must continue while a voice-over or sound effect is fired.
End action and playback
- The end action determines what happens when the cue reaches the end, such as Stop, Play Next or Repeat.
- The playback progress display can be used to monitor and seek within running audio.
- MTC can be enabled per audio cue in PRO / DEMO when synchronized external systems are required.
USER MANUAL
Video Cues
Video cues send media to Cue Control's separate video output. The same workflow also covers still images, allowing projected visual material to remain part of the same show cue list.
Create and run a video cue
- Add a Video cue or drag the media into the cue list.
- Select the cue and confirm the media file and playback settings before the show.
- Open or position the separate video output on the required display or projector.
- Execute the cue with GO in the same way as an audio cue.
Playback options
- Video cues support playback progress / seeking, video volume and looping.
- PRO / DEMO provide advanced video-output controls for position, scale and crop.
- Still-image cues use the visual output without requiring a separate show-control application.
Show preparation
- Test the actual output display, scaling and media files before doors open.
- Use Check Media when preparing or moving a project so missing media can be identified before show time.
USER MANUAL
Fade Cues
Fade / Stop cues provide a dedicated cue-list action for ending running media in a controlled way instead of manually manipulating playback during the show.
Insert a Fade / Stop cue
- Place the Fade / Stop cue at the point in the cue list where running media should end.
- Set the required fade duration.
- Choose the playback target that the cue should affect, depending on the media that is running.
Typical uses
- Fade background music while dialogue continues.
- End ambience at a scene change.
- Fade audio and visual playback together when the production requires a coordinated transition.
Operational behaviour
- Run the Fade / Stop cue with GO like any other cue.
- The cue remains part of the show sequence, so the operator does not need to leave the cue list to perform the fade.
USER MANUAL
Script Mode
Script Mode combines the production script and the cue sequence. Cues can be positioned directly inside the text so the operator can follow the scene and fire the next action from its dramatic context.
Create or import a script
- Open the Script tab.
- Import an existing script or create and edit the text directly in Cue Control.
- Use Edit Mode when the script itself needs to be changed; switch back to Playback Mode for show operation.
Insert cues into the text
- Place the cursor or select the relevant position in the script.
- Insert the cue at the point where the action is required.
- Cue references are visually highlighted inside the script so they remain easy to find while reading.
Run the show from the script
- Use the Script Mode GO / PAUSE / STOP controls or activate cues directly from their positions in the script.
- Select First Cue can return the script workflow to its starting cue.
- The script can also be followed through Webremote in PRO / DEMO, allowing another operator to read and control the show from a browser.
USER MANUAL
Web Remote
Webremote makes the running show available through a web browser on another device in the same network. It can be used from FOH, a lighting desk, backstage or directly from the stage.
Connect
- Connect the remote device to the same network as the Cue Control computer.
- Start Webremote in Cue Control and open the displayed network address in a browser.
- No separate remote-control application is required on the phone, tablet or second computer.
Remote show controls
- The remote interface provides the essential transport functions including GO, STOP and PAUSE.
- Previous, Next Cue and Select First Cue provide cue-list navigation.
- Follow Current Cue keeps the remote view aligned with the running show when desired.
Cue list, Script and multiple users
- The remote cue list shows the current show state and cue sequence.
- PRO / DEMO can expose the Script view through Webremote.
- Several browser clients can access the same running show simultaneously, allowing multiple members of the production team to monitor or control the show.
USER MANUAL
MIDI Time Code (MTC)
Cue Control can send MIDI Time Code together with audio playback. This is intended for synchronizing lighting, video or other show systems to a Cue Control audio cue.
Prepare MTC output
- Configure the MIDI Time Code output in Cue Control and select the required MIDI destination.
- Confirm that the receiving system is configured to follow the same MTC stream and frame-rate configuration.
- Test the complete signal path before using it in a live show.
Enable MTC on an audio cue
- Select the audio cue that will act as the time reference.
- Open the cue's MTC settings and enable MTC for that cue.
- Use the cue-local start-time override when the external system must begin from a defined time-code address rather than the default start.
During playback
- Starting the audio cue starts the corresponding MTC stream.
- The time code follows the running audio so external systems can remain synchronized.
- MTC is available in PRO / DEMO and can be configured independently for individual audio cues.
USER MANUAL
MIDI Trigger
MIDI remote input allows Cue Control cues and transport functions to be triggered from external MIDI hardware or software.
Enable MIDI input
- Open the MIDI input settings and select the MIDI device that should control Cue Control.
- Cue Control starts without a MIDI input device selected, so remote control must be enabled deliberately for the current system.
Assign a trigger
- Select the cue or transport function you want to control.
- Use the MIDI Trigger settings to assign an incoming MIDI message.
- MIDI Learn can capture the desired control directly instead of requiring the assignment to be entered manually.
Show use
- Test every remote trigger before the show and confirm that only the intended cue or transport command responds.
- MIDI cue and transport triggering are PRO / DEMO functions.
USER MANUAL
OSC Trigger
OSC remote input provides network-based cue and transport triggering from software or hardware that can send Open Sound Control messages.
Enable OSC reception
- OSC reception is disabled by default.
- Enable it in Cue Control's network / transport settings and configure the required listening parameters.
- Make sure the sender and Cue Control computer can reach each other over the network.
Assign OSC triggers
- Open the OSC Trigger settings for the required cue or transport action.
- Assign the incoming OSC control that should fire that action.
- Repeat the process for each cue or transport command that needs external control.
Operational check
- Verify the network address, port and trigger assignments before the show.
- Disable OSC reception when it is not required so Cue Control does not listen for remote commands unnecessarily.
- OSC cue and transport triggering are PRO / DEMO functions.
USER MANUAL
Art-Net Trigger
Art-Net can be used as a remote input source for Cue Control. It is intended for triggering cues or transport functions from a lighting or show-control network.
Enable Art-Net input
- Art-Net reception is disabled by default.
- Open the Art-Net settings and choose the network interface / IP address on which Cue Control should listen.
- Enable reception only on the interface used by the show-control network.
Assign a cue or transport trigger
- Select the cue or transport command that should react to Art-Net.
- Open the cue's Art-Net Trigger settings and define the required incoming control.
- Test the assignment from the sending console or controller.
Important scope
- The current Cue Control implementation uses Art-Net for remote input only.
- Cue Control does not use this function as an Art-Net output engine.
- Art-Net cue and transport triggers are PRO / DEMO functions.
